A week ago, Apple launched their new free U2 album for all iTunes users. This album was called Songs of Innocence. Since they launched this product, apple have had it rough with extreme criticism from a large population of iTunes users. Many users have raised complaints on how they are forced to download an app that is eating up more space on their iPads, iPhones as well as desktops. There have been mixed reactions from Apple users concerning the album. While some have talked positively, many users have stated many that the product has more disadvantages than advantages. Why do they hate this product? This remains the big question although we are yet to find out. In the meantime let us have a quick preview of what users are saying concerning this product.
The album automatically showed up in the iTunes Libraries for users. When you open this album, you will see a list of songs in the album. Most users have argued that this songs are directed automatically from the album and they show up in their iTunes library. Some have argued that the tracks appear in their iCloud account if they do not select the “automatic download” option. iTunes users feel that they are being forced to download the album instead of being given options from which they can choose. Most of them want them are appealing to Apple to give then an option where they can manually download the album when they want.
The album is said to occupy 72 MBs of the total iPhone memory. Most users claim that the album is too big and that it wastes most of their memory. For instance, an average iPhone has an inbuilt memory of 16 GB. iPhone users claim that most of this memory is taken by the Apple operating system and applications. This means they have limited space to store their songs as well as other applications. Most people who have the forced download in the iPhones have already received a notification about their storage being full. To make matters even worse, the application cannot be easily deleted from the phone. This forces them to uninstall other useful application instead of the album.
Many other people have argued that Apple is trying to imitate Samsung following their free copy of “Magna Carter Holy Grail” which one of Jay Z’s albums. The “Magna Carter Holy Grail” application was supported by Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Galaxy Note 2. The advantage with the Samsung application is that it was an optional download unlike the forced download from Apple.
Due to the many complaints raised by users, Apple have responded by providing a tutorial on how to delete the U2 application. If you want to download the application, go to https://itunes.com/soi-remove. Click on the “Remove Album” option and the album will no longer appear in your account. If decide to download the application later, you will need to purchase it from the Apple store. The application is free to all iTunes users up to 13th October 2014.
