Designed by Alexei Mikhailov, TrakRok is a trike or a three wheel bike powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology. The design of the trike is certainly impressive and what it promises to do is also enticing. However, being a concept quite far from being a reality, is it just another fancy ride or truly a useful vehicle?

As you check out the design and the build of the trike, it becomes apparent that TrakRok is meant for all kinds of difficult terrain. You really don’t need a trike for the modern day roads or even the usual plains or meadows. There are enough comfortable, fuel efficient and powerful vehicles for ordinary terrain. What pose a challenge are rocky, snowy and muddy terrains.

TrakRok

The TrakRok has two wheels at the front and one large polygonal wheel at the rear. The vehicle is powered by electric motors that are run by the hydrogen fuel cell technology. The vehicle would be built to withstand the impact of tough terrains and it is also sturdy enough to endure the harshest of climates during weather extremes. As hydrogen fuel cells do generate a lot of heat when harnessed, there are two large radiators to cool down the trike and the body is made of anodized aluminum to be light enough but strong enough at the same time.

TrakRok certainly seems to be a good vehicle, especially if you are a soldier and need to tread very unforgiving terrains, if you are a farmer and need something cool instead of the good old tractors or their newer variants, if you need a snowmobile and instead get this to make it all the more fun or if you are hitting the beach or some rocky places and want something to ride on while exploring the exoticism of those places. TrakRok can also find its use in the world of leisure or adventure sports.

Beyond the aforementioned examples, TrakRok would not really find much use or endorsement. Not many people would want a trike for all terrain when they are not expected to tread such terrains to begin with. But if anyone has to travel odd routes, then this may be useful.

As long as TrakRok is not tested by real people on real terrains, it is difficult to ascertain if it is as useful as the claims make it sound like or if it is another fancy ride.
