Fitness trackers—they’re wearable and they’re a popular device for tracking fitness-related parameters like heart rate, blood pressure, respiration rate and other essential vitals. Most fitness trackers come in the form of a watch, particularly smartwatches, as evidenced by the current market.

But, companies like Sensogram Technologies are taking a decidedly different approach with fitness trackers. Most fitness trackers are designed to be worn on the wrist—this time, that’s not the case with the SensoTRACK fitness tracker.

Earpiece fitness tracking – SensoTRACK fitness tracker

SensoTRACK is a new fitness tracker designed by the company, made to sense, track and eventually manage activity data of the wearer. Instead of being designed to wear on the wrist, the unique design is made to be worn as an earpiece, nestled against the temporal artery or, rather, in close proximity to it. This allows the device to track more accurate biometric readouts than other similar fitness trackers that are usually worn on the wrist.

Sensogram Tech wanted to create a device that ‘showed users exactly how their exercise affected each of their personal biometric parameters.’ They spent some time developing the initial prototype for their fitness tracker, eventually settling on a smart device that withstood and support their expectation for such a device.

The ear-based design is certainly different from the market’s standard fitness tracker fare—and, not only that, it’s more effective, too. This fitness tracker is now considered the only wearable fitness tracker that provides moment-to-moment readings for blood pressure and respiration rate.

Sensogram Tech also noted that their test results for the device revealed that its accuracy levels are on par with vital-sign monitoring devices approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

‘Plenty of options’

Of course, the fitness tracker also gives users plenty of options. The device provides users plenty of information about their vitals, which helps them efficiently meet their fitness goals, should they have them. These options come in two distinct forms: users can choose to have their real time data automatically recorded or manually input their own workout-oriented data into the SensoTRACK’s system.

To add on to that, SensoTRACK’s user forum also allows users to download routines and workouts, developed by the team’s associated fitness professionals and avid users. Users will also be able to upload their own custom routines and workouts. And, all of that participation requires no fee.

It’s a win-win, either way—the SensoTRACK’s highly customizable and convenient for users who want a fitness tracker that just does more than the average one.

Sensogram Technologies’ SensoTRACK Fitness Tracker is still up on Kickstarter, having already had $103,723 pledged at the time of this writing. There’s still about 9 days to go in their $250,000 funding campaign, so hopefully the company gets a last minute rally to reach their goal. After all, the SensoTRACK is a pretty remarkable smart device.
