It is not the first time when a designer or a team of innovators have tried to combine two necessary tasks into one. There are many multi-utilitarian devices that can do many things at once. But there are very few that can actually benefit you in myriad ways. The bike washing machine which is a work in progress at this stage attempts to help you wash clothes while you exercise or burn some calories.
Again, this is not the first time exercising and powering some device has been attempted. There are certain fitness equipments which can convert the kinetic energy of people while working out at a gym and that energy is then converted to electricity. There are gyms and fitness centers in the United States which have such machines and they are meeting part of their energy requirements by the electricity generated from the kinetic energy of the people working out. The bike washing machine does something similar.
Imagine a bike or a cycle in a gym or fitness center and replace the front wheel with a drum. Take a conventional drum from any ordinary washing machine and imagine a better or contemporary design of that same drum. Now, as you exercise or start pedaling, it will power the drum. In effect, the drum will rotate just as it does when it is inside a washing machine.
Exercising and laundry are both regular tasks. You should exercise every day and should do laundry at least twice a week, unless you want a room to get piled up with dirty clothes. You can combine exercising and laundry at the same time using the same device. You can shed weight or burn calories and stay fit while you clean your clothes.
The biggest benefit is that you can save on electricity and you can do two important tasks at the same time. However, how effective the machine would be on the ground or in reality cannot be guessed right now.
Ask any person who does his or her laundry all the time and they would promise you that it isn’t a very easy task. You would anyway burn a lot of calories while doing your laundry and the work that has to be done after. Moreover, the bike washing machine appears to be fancy and how it would fare in the world of utility is not easy to guess.
