Tablets and laptops are great! They have allowed us to easily take advanced technology with us on the go. However, even the most modern of keyboard technology can limit what we can do and where we can go with these devices. When you need the functionality of a real keyboard, for example, then a laptop or a portable keyboard that can be connected to your tablet is probably the best option. But Air Type might just be the product to change all that. To learn how, read on.
Ditch the Keyboard
Air Type allows users trained in the “touch type,” typing method (where the row of home keys in the middle of the keyboard is used) to stop using the keyboard all together. Instead, all that the user needs is the two cuffs purchased from Air Type, as well as some software. With these things, the typist can then type on a virtual keyboard that the computer itself sense through the Air Type cuffs. Viola! Whatever the user is typing suddenly appears on the screen of your tablet without having to use any actual or on-screen keyboards. Take them with you, anywhere!
How It Works
The group of designers working on the Air Type have not yet fully explained how Air Type itself works. The most we can tell you at this point (with the product being at the prototype stages) is that the cuffs allow the computer to sense the finger and palm motions of the typist. These cuffs connect to the device via Bluetooth. The keystrokes made by the user are then translated into letters without having to actually tap any buttons. For those constantly on the go and taking notes, especially on tablets, the Air Type could be a great device to have. We will most likely learn much more about this design and concept as the process for perfecting it continues. Look for updates on Air Type in the future.
