We all tend to think that controllers are good for only a single thing, and that is to play video games. Just like everything seems to happen nowadays, our beliefs can get changed by a simple thing, such as Lo-Fi SES. Thanks to this wonderful, hackable instrument you will be able to create your own chiptunes.

This product as it was specifically created for the video game fans out there, with a wide range of unique and nifty functions.

First of all, the Lo-Fi SES seems to be a cool variation of the NES controller, but the difference here is that it’s not a controller, in fact it’s the perfect platform that any audio enthusiast, video game fan, skilled instrumental or a band can use to create tunes!

Tune

At its core, the device comes with an 8-bit processor, which justifies the natural sounds that it can create and the authenticity feel that you can’t find easily these days. The Lo-Fi SES brings a neat set of LED lights that also add up to that chiptune feel. There is an open source set of hardware and software that’s easy to modify according to your own needs.

As expected, the Lo-Fi SES is compatible with the Arrduino software. You don’t have to use cartridges with the Lo-Fi SES, but if you want to add some, you will be able to increase the functionality of the device. Lo-Fi SES opensource, so it can be expanded by tweaking, which might prove to be very helpful in the long run, as this can build a community around it.

Lo-Fi SES is still in the project phase but it does have an estimated date of delivery in April 2015. If you want, you can back the project and get the device when launched by following the Kickstarter link below.
